Lusail Stadium design

The Fanar lantern’s interplay of light and shadow inspired the stadium design.

Lusail shape and facade echo the intricate decorative motifs on bowls and other vessels characteristic of the golden age of art and craftsmanship in the Arab and Islamic world.

Foster + Partners and Populous, two of the world’s most renowned architecture companies, collaborated to design the stadium.

The roof of Lusail Stadium Qatar holds another significant construction technique.

A state-of-the-art material has been used to construct the roof to allow the optimum light to enter the stadium.

The roof will allow light for the perfect growth of pitch grass and maintain the correct temperature without burdening the stadium’s facility.

Lusail Stadium Construction

HBK Contracting and China Railway Construction Corporation constructed the stadium. So when Qatar won the right to host the 2022 World Cup, preparations began in earnest in 2014.

The Lusail Stadium construction started in 2017 and officially opened to the public on November 22, 2021.

Lusail Stadium Cost

It is estimated that the stadium’s building will cost roughly 767 million dollars.

Lusail Stadium Capacity

With a capacity of 88,966, will be the largest venue for the 2022 World Cup.

Stadium Green motive

The administration has put in significant effort to save resources before and after construction. This includes recycling garbage, water, and other natural resources and tracking how each material might be used in the long run.

In addition, initiatives have been taken to encourage greater use of public transportation, which will reduce the number of carbon emissions.

Lusail Stadium Sustainability

The entire structure was built using eco-friendly methods. Plants in and around the stadium are watered using recycled water. The facility uses 40% less potable water than typical stadium constructions. The arena’s roof has been designed with sustainability in mind.

A state-of-the-art material called Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), a modern material that protects the stadium from warm wind, keeps out dust, and lets in enough light for the pitch to grow while giving enough shade to make the stadium’s air conditioning work less. The Global Sustainability Assessment System gave Lusail Stadium a score of 5 stars.

Like the other stadiums at the world cup, the Lusail stadium will be cooled using solar power and have a zero carbon footprint.

Lusail Stadium legacy

Following the world cup, it is expected to be reconfigured into 40,000 seat stadium.

The stadium and the area around it will have a lot of public facilities, like housing, shops, places to eat and drink, a school, and a health clinic. However, after the World Cup, the modular upper tier will be used for something else, and the seats will be given to a community that needs more sports facilities.
